Entry Requirements
Assessment Methods
This course is ideal for anyone wishing to make the transition from horse riding instructor to facilitator of groundwork with horses. Non riding activities can generate new income without physical wear and tear on horses.
EFL activities are participant focused and empower people to be resourceful and make choices that support resilience & wellbeing.
It’s essential that applicants have completed the Equi-Scotia Online Introduction to Equine Facilitated Learning to gain entry to this programme. Entry is at the discretion of the centre, however it is expected that candidates should have achieved core skills (communication, numeracy, working with others, problem solving, and ICT) at SCQF level 4-5, or should be able to demonstrate equivalent experience.
It is desirable that applicants already hold a coaching and/or horse care qualification.
Applicants must be open to receiving feedback and taking responsibility for managing their own mental health and wellbeing.
Theory and practice on this course is centred around an SQA accredited award in First Aid for Mental Health through safe and ethical approaches to ground work with horses. Assessment is through observation of practical activities, in person or through video evidence, and a professional discussion.
